ADA Compliance Kits

What is required for ADA compliance?  (No safe harbor clause)

Speech

  • RL/FT/RT, 9100 color, and 9700 support speech
  • 9100 mono, 8100, and 9600 require an upgrade kit
Braille
  • Required to ID the location of the head phone jack
  • Only FT/RT contained a Braille decal from the beginning
  • Ensure all models contain Braille decal

What is NOT required for ADA compliance?

  • Only applies if the ATM is not “altered” (i.e., moved)
  • If you move it, you must comply with the below details
Height/Reach (48” height/10” reach)
  • All models meet this requirement except 9600s produced prior to Dec 2000 (51” height)
Keypad Symbols (O, <, X, “pip” on 5 key, +/-)
  • New keypads meet this requirement
  • Upgrade kits for those ATMs that do not
